You’ve received a lump sum

Does this sound like you?

For whatever reason, you have never really had the need for specialist financial planning in the past.  It might be that:

    • you’ve been too busy to think about it and money and a few random investments have quietly accumulated in the background, or;
    • you could have come into money unexpectedly from an inheritance or an insurance pay out or a lottery win, or;
    • it might be something you’ve actually been anticipating and planning for, such as a business sale or you’ve downsized your house or you’ve received a lump sum pay out from your work pension, or maybe;
    • your career could have suddenly taken off and you’ve received a golden handshake from your new employer or a large book or album advance or your company share scheme has done exceptionally well and just paid out.

Although it’s a nice problem to have, what you do with that money and how you apply it right now is likely to have a critical influence on your future.  Do you spend a little now or should you be more frugal?  What about your mortgage? – it might make sense to pay it off, but then again there could be reasons not to. If you invest some should you spread it around or concentrate it in one place?  Can you put some into pensions?  What other things can it be invested in?  How do you do that tax efficiently and fairly without falling prey to unethical, tax ‘dodging’ schemes? Can you live on some of the money?  Will it allow you to retire early, and when?  How do you even make an investment in the first place?!

Become a client of ours and we’ll address these types of questions and concerns, and a whole lot more, early on in your financial planning journey, walk you through the options, guide you towards the most suitable solutions, and set this all out within your own, bespoke financial plan.  We’ll also be on hand to deal with and adapt to changes to your circumstances and goals from then onwards (assuming you choose to stay with us as your adviser) as you continue to put your money to good use throughout your life.
